I did a two day visit with a couple of mates, one of them lives in Bern.
It’s as I expected and a stunning place to cycle – quiet roads, beautiful views and loads of good climbing.
I’d go back to Switzerland, I get the feeling it’s like the French Alps but much quieter.
One thing to be aware of is that it can get very hot in the summer – 30C plus for August – so pick your time carefully; we went in June which was pretty much perfect.
The climbs that we did were classic alpine type of climbs, pretty steep in places – 10% or so – and lovely and quiet, we hardly saw any cars when we were off the main roads.
